"Our old history ends with the cross; our new history begins with the resurrection." - Watchmen Nee
A few months before Easter in 2017 I felt compelled by God to write an Easter song. A song about the resurrection of Jesus. What came out was not so much a retelling of the historical occurrence as the Bible records it. Instead, it's a song that celebrates the implications of that resurrection, and the sacrificial death that came before it. What does Christ's death and resurrection mean for us as Believers? What was the condition we were doomed to before that fateful weekend? What is our hope now that "It is finished" and Jesus is raised from the dead?
I'm a bit of nerd when it comes to researching the Bible and what it says about ... well, pretty much everything. So, in the lyric sheet, I have included the Bible references that inspired the lyrics. I hope you find them inspiring, and that gratitude for what Jesus did is renewed in your heart.
lyrics
EVER ALIVE
V1(1 Corinthians 15:20-23)(Psalm 58:3)
Through one man came death for all
Souls beleaguered by the fall
From birth we go astray, in sin we are born
Through the Son comes life and all
Our souls awakened to the call
To find our hope, All our hope in the Lord
All our hope is in the Lord
Cho (John 11:25-26)
Hallelujah, Christ is Risen, Ever he’s alive
He is living and We are with him, We will never die
V2(Galatians 2:20)
As the crucified in Christ
No longer we who live and die
By faith in God’s own Son who gave himself in love
Who gave himself in love
Bridge (Romans 10:9)
Confess that the Lord is raised, Believe and you will be saved

Don leads worship at The Vine Community Church in Oklahoma City. He is a proud Okie and an onion burger connoisseur. He is a singer of many songs, writer of a few.
Bi-Frost Arts consistently creates some of the most legitimately artistic sacred music around. I highly respect what they do not only artistically but in terms of their spiritual content. don shreffler
The beautifully raw song "God, Be My Vision" begins each verse with a riff on the old "Be Thou My Vision" hymn and takes it into a wholly original direction. It is haunting but hopeful. Enjoy! don shreffler
